Dating & Historical Context
- Dating: This matching set can be dated to its active manufacturing window of c. 2009–2023. The factory backstamp diagnostics are definitive: they carry the iconic blocked uppercase IKEA trademark underglaze stamp, accompanied by the explicit manufacturer provenance "Design and Quality IKEA of Sweden, Made in Thailand," alongside the specific registered supplier routing identifier code 15199. This marks the peak production era of this highly successful line before its formal retirement.
- Historical Note: Designed by the talented team at IKEA of Sweden, the legendary FÄRGRIK collection was conceived to bring timeless, everyday functionalism to global households. The series relies on heavy-gauge glazed stoneware—a hard-wearing material engineered to withstand active daily domestic use 365 days a year. By prioritizing a clean, rimless coupe profile over traditional wide-rimmed soup dishes, the design provides an exceptionally clean, minimalist base that beautifully coordinates with casual or formal dining. Since IKEA formally discontinued the white FÄRGRIK dinnerware line, replacement curators and collectors actively hunt for ready-made lots on the secondary market to keep their existing sets complete.
Description
An exceptionally clean, modern, and highly practical eight-piece tableware extension service for eight, this set of IKEA FÄRGRIK large coupe stoneware bowls is a phenomenal addition to the queue. Rendered in a brilliant, light-reflective white glaze, the set showcases the beautiful simplicity of contemporary Swedish industrial design. Each piece is engineered with a wide, gently curving shallow well that maximizes presentation area while retaining heat efficiently, making them the ultimate vessel for serving modern global cuisine, ranging from pasta and risottos to dense stews and main-course salads.
Expert Design Features:
- Premium Glazed Stoneware: Kiln-fired to create a hard-wearing, non-porous ceramic body that withstands everyday microwave and dishwasher cycles seamlessly.
- Versatile Coupe Silhouette: The seamless, rimless boundary allows for elegant tablescape stacking and provides an unencumbered capacity for substantial meals.
- Highly Uniform High-Gloss Finish: The brilliant white glaze runs smoothly across all eight pieces, ensuring a perfect visual match when displayed on open kitchen shelving.
Condition Report
This vintage eight-piece stoneware collection is in excellent condition, showcasing pristine preservation from a careful domestic kitchen environment. All eight large bowls are entirely free from structural edge impact chips, foot ring bites, hairline cracks, glaze crazing, or post-factory cosmetic restoration. The glassy surfaces retain their original high-gloss sheen, showing no signs of cloudiness, heavy dishwasher etching, or deep, unsightly grey metal cutlery score marks across the inner presentation wells. The flat bases are solid and true, ensuring every bowl sits perfectly level and stable on the dining table. Please inspect the comprehensive gallery photographs to confirm the factory markings and appreciate the uniform condition.
