• Dating: This graphic print dates to the late 1980s, narrowing to a manufacturing timeframe between 1985 and 1989. The combination of heavy-grade textured cloth paper, deep mechanical blind-embossing, and the specific typeface on the Hong Kong studio biography sticker match production portfolios from this highly active decade in the artist's career.

• Historical Note: Born in 1944 in Chaozhou, China, C.T. Wong immigrated to Hong Kong where he rose to prominence as a celebrated mid-to-late 20th-century graphic designer and printmaker. Wong is renowned for blending traditional Chinese ink aesthetics with Western print mediums. This specific piece features the Shuangxi (Double Happiness) character, a historical ligature composed of two copies of the character Xi (joy), traditionally symbolising marital harmony, good fortune, and domestic bliss. Encased in a Hollywood Regency-style faux-bamboo moulded plastic frame with a traditional Chinese ruyi-arch brass pendant hanger, it captures the high-end export art style that gained global popularity during the late 20th century.

A striking visual celebration of traditional Chinese symbolism, this authentic late-1980s embossed graphic print by Hong Kong artist C.T. Wong makes a bold, elegant addition to any curated art collection or Chinoiserie gallery wall. The central focus is a powerfully rendered Double Happiness symbol, built with raised gold-leaf style calligraphic strokes that catch ambient light beautifully against their deep backdrop.

• Textured Mixed Media: The print is executed on a heavy, woven crimson cloth-textured paper stock, giving the vibrant background an architectural, woven fabric-like quality that adds immense physical depth.

• Chinoiserie Presentation: The artwork is professionally set behind glass within a charcoal-black mount and surrounded by an elegant moulded plastic frame expertly designed to replicate natural bamboo stalks, finished in a bright metallic gold glaze.

• Documented Provenance: The reverse of the frame retains its highly critical, original English-language artist biography slip, preserving the full institutional context and history of the piece for future collectors.

This framed print is in very good vintage condition, displaying beautifully with bright, unfaded colours. The central embossed red cloth-textured paper is completely clean, flat, and untouched by moisture, ripple warping, or sun bleaching. The gold leaf detailing is crisp and unrubbed. The glass is clear with no heavy scuffs or deep scratches. The gold bamboo-effect moulded plastic frame retains its bright metallic lustre, showing only minor age-appropriate separation at the upper right corner mitre joint and negligible surface edge marks, none of which compromise the structural integrity or beautiful display quality of the piece.
