• Dating: This matching pair of covered tureens dates strictly to the late 1960s (c. 1968). The unmistakable combination of the rich terracotta slip-glaze base and the block-printed "Studio Line" maker's mark on the reverse isolates production neatly to this iconic period of British ceramic design.

• Historical Note: Produced by the renowned J&G Meakin pottery house in Hanley, these serving dishes feature the highly collectible "Boscobel" pattern. This specific design highlights the signature mid-century Studio Line shape, celebrated for its organic, square-rounded silhouettes and clever integrated handles. The pattern presents falling autumn oak leaves and acorns over a sophisticated faux-linen or weave background print on the lids, contrasting beautifully with the solid retro orange bases that defined late-60s British kitchen aesthetics.

A remarkably scarce and beautifully preserved pair of retro serving dishes, these vintage J&G Meakin tureens bring incredible mid-century style to any table setting. Designed with a striking two-tone aesthetic, the set features rich terracotta-coloured square basins topped by circular, tight-fitting white lids decorated with detailed green, amber, and chocolate brown autumn oak leaves cascading among ripe acorn clusters.

Expert Identification & Design Features:
• Faux Linen Ground: The lids display an all-over, muted crosshatch texture printed into the glaze layer, giving it a distinctive fabric-like visual depth.
• Dual Tureen Set: A rare opportunity to acquire a matching pair of covered vegetable servers, ideal for hosting retro dinner parties or filling out a Boscobel service.
• Integrated Handles: The elegant square bases flare out gently at opposite corners to provide seamless, secure lifting handles built directly into the form.

This entire two-piece tureen set (including both lids) is in excellent vintage condition. Both ceramic bases and lids are structurally pristine, completely free from any historic impact chips, rim nibbles, hairline splits, or professional repairs. The underglaze graphics remain incredibly sharp, and the solid terracotta colour is uniform without patchiness. The glossy glaze coat is highly brilliant and entirely free from severe interior spoon scratches, heavy textbook crazing, or discolouration, indicating this set was used purely for special occasions.
