Dating & Historical Context
• Dating: This beautiful serving set dates strictly to the mid-1960s (c. 1964–1968). The combination of the opaque, crisp white borosilicate opal formula with the traditional, hand-applied fruit harvest graphics is diagnostic of mid-era Phoenix production windows.
• Historical Note: Manufactured at the famous Phoenix Works in Bilston, Staffordshire, the British Heat Resisting Glass Company stood as the premier independent alternative to JAJ Pyrex across the UK. Celebrated by collectors for their signature, aerodynamically swooping side ear handles, Phoenix pieces are highly prized for their exceptional glass purity and thermal resilience. The classic "Grapes" transfer pattern was introduced during the mid-century culinary revival to offer an elegant, vine-inspired harvest aesthetic, letting home cooks take durable, hardworking ovenware straight from the oven and position it as a formal table centrepiece.

Condition Report
This piece is in good vintage condition and remains a stunning, eye-catching addition to any collection. The opal glass body is solid with no major chips or structural cracks. The hand-applied grape transfer is remarkably well-preserved with vibrant colours and very minimal "flea-bite" wear. Consistent with its 60-year age, there is some fine crazing to the exterior glaze and light surface marks from historic use; these authentic characteristics provide a visual map of its vintage origin. The original glass lid fits well and remains clear. (Please refer to the high-resolution images for a closer look at the surface patina).
